21 months

Let's start with the usual monthly update: Aria is talking more clearly, and starting to string more words together.  She repeats everything she hears.  She can identify all the basic colors correctly.  The alphabet ends at D (sometimes E), and counting usually starts with four, skips six, and combines nine and ten into a new word altogether.  She loves to play outside on our small patio, now that the weather is warmer, and chasing the jackrabbits in the courtyard.  After hiding away 101 Dalmatians and AristoCats, Aria now asks for "letitgo snowman" several times a day, along with Cars, "grandpa" (Pixar shorts), and "baby" (which could be Ice Age or Pixar).  Her favorite stories at bedtime are still Robert Munsch books (specifically Pigs and the Paperbag Princess), and princess stories.

Lest anyone think I have a perfect child, I've come to believe that the terrible twos start at 20 months.  The tantrums have started.  She asks for something, then I try and give it to her and she says no.  I move to put it away and she screams to have it back.  Typical toddler.  And the running away has gotten significantly worse, especially in parking lots.  But, for all of this, she is now more willing to hold my hand when walking, and is more likely to ask for help.  And I think I can avoid most tantrums if I keep her from getting too hungry.

Sewing projects for the month.  Two shirts and yet another new dress.

Biggest excitement for the month was Aunt Tawnia coming into town!  It was her spring break, so she decided to take a break from spring and come to Canada.
It snowed several days while she was here, but we still managed to have lots of fun: dinner at the Pannenkoek Haus and milkshakes at Peter's Drive-In, picnic at the Devonian Gardens downtown, swimming with friends, feeding the missionaries, a little shopping, lots of Gilmore Girls watching, an evening at the temple.  The highlight of the week was spending a day out at Lake Louise and Banff.
The snow-covered mountains were beautiful, but all the lakes were frozen over!
So we got to walk out onto Lake Lousie instead of just look at it.
Wildlife of the day: at least a dozen bighorn sheep.

For Easter we did a few egg hunts in the midst of doing some family-reunion filming.  Tawnia hid eggs for me and Aaron, and then we hid eggs for her.  Aria got to do a little bit of egg hunting at Grandpa's house, along with all of her Sebastian cousins!

And then there's the other big news for the month: Aaron had about 24 hours notice before the company he worked for, FitSystems, was being sold.  There had been talk about it for several months, so it wasn't a total shock, but the timing was a bit sudden.  Because the new company (Fitness Depot) does not have a service department, Aaron's job was basically being taken away.  So he, along with his two coworkers, has created a new company: SOS Fitness Services.  Thankfully FitSystems gave them their clients, and all their contacts and contracts, so they have a really good place to start, but it is still a lot of paperwork, phone calls, stress and busyness to make it all come together.  Today is the first official day of work under the new company, but it will be months before things really calm down into a good rhythm.  Prayers for us would be appreciated!
