Otafest Princesses

For the last 10+ years, the anime convention in Calgary, Otafest, has been held at the university.  But it has grown so big that it moved to the convention center downtown this year.  We were okay with that.  But it also switched from the May long weekend to Canada Day weekend (which meant they could go for three full days), so we missed out on all the Canada Day festivities.

Since Aria was dressed as a princess, she wanted to take pictures with other princesses.  As she was running everywhere I was able to keep track of her ... most of the time.  One thing I learned: when going somewhere with large crowds, dress your kid in something memorable.  People won't remember a little girl in a blue shirt, but they'll remember the little pink princess that just ran by!

Aside from the Disney ones, I have no idea who most of these people are cosplaying.

The first princess she found was her FAVORITE - Princess Peach.
Aria had to say hi to her every time we saw her, and drag her around to show her stuff.
Thankfully the girl was very sweet and went along with it for a few minutes
before kindly moving on to do her own things.

Admittedly, Aria has never seen Kiki's Delivery Service, only the preview for it.
But she recognized Kiki!  It made the girl so happy that she came and asked US for the picture!

Grey Sheepy had to take a few pictures too.

So while I was chasing Aria all over the convention, Aaron was running the board game room and hosting several gameshows (including our homemade Wheel of Anime).  We even took a few breaks from running to actually watch some anime too.
